Start with proven frameworks instead of a blank page. The Methods Library gives your workspace pre-built Methods you can enable, preview, and save as your own copy. Each one bundles skills and can bundle Routines.
Building a shared understanding of how your team works takes time. The Methods Library shortens that by shipping a curated set of Methods that you can turn on with one switch. Each library Method is a package: the Method document, the skills it bundles, and any Routines that go with it.
Once active, a library Method works the same way as any Method you've created yourself: Hamster references it when helping you write Briefs, generate Plans, and guide delivery. Your team gets the benefit of a structured process from day one, without the overhead of authoring it from scratch.
Every Method in the library is maintained by Hamster. When you want to go further, you can save any library Method as a copy your team owns and can edit freely.
Hamster maintains the catalog and adds Methods to it over time. It includes Hamster's own Methods, such as Hamster Direction, Hamster Discovery, and Hamster Delivery, alongside Methods adapted from public playbooks, like GStack, which is based on Garry Tan's public GStack.
Each library Method card shows how many skills and Routines the Method bundles, for example 2 Skills and 3 Routines. Some library Methods start enabled; the switch on each card shows whether a Method is enabled for your workspace.
Select Methods in your workspace sidebar to open the Library. Three tabs scope the catalog: Methods, Skills, and Routines. Skills lists the read-only skills bundled inside library Methods, and you can click one to preview it. For Routines, see Routines Library.
Preview a Method — Click any library Method card. The Overview tab shows the Method document, and the Contents tab lists its bundled skills and Routines. You can preview a Method even while it's disabled, so you know what you're getting before you enable it.
Enable a Method — Toggle the switch on the card, or open a disabled Method and click Enable Method (requires permission to manage documents). Hamster immediately starts referencing it when you ask for help writing Briefs or generating plans. You can enable as many Methods as are relevant to how your team works.
Disable a Method — Toggle a Method off to remove it from Hamster's context. The Method stays in the library; you can re-enable it at any time.
Save your own copy — When you want to customize a library Method, right-click its card and choose Save as my copy, or click Save as my copy on its row in table view. The preview opens so you can review the Method; click Save as my copy again to confirm. Hamster copies the Method, its skills, and its Routines into your workspace, where you can edit every document.
Find your copy — Your copy appears on your Methods page with a from Library label so you can tell it apart from the Methods you wrote yourself. The library card now reads Copied. From there, treat your copy like any other Method: open it, edit the Method document, and adjust its skills and Routines in Contents.
When you enable a library Method, its bundled skills come with it: they appear read-only on your Skills page with a Library badge. Its Routines don't; each library Routine keeps its own switch in the Library's Routines tab.
When you save a copy, Hamster copies the Method, every bundled skill, and each bundled Routine with its triggers into your workspace as editable documents. It reuses any library Routine you've already forked. The library Method and its Routines are disabled for your workspace, and you can't re-enable that library Method while your copy exists.
One-switch activation: Enable a library Method and Hamster starts using it as context immediately — no configuration, no copy-pasting.
Bundled skills and Routines: Each library Method bundles pre-written skills and can bundle Routines. The card counts show what's inside, and Contents lists every item.
Copy to customize: Library Methods are read-only by design, so the shared source stays consistent. Save as my copy creates your own editable version, complete with its skills and Routines, without touching the original.
Conflict-free naming: If a copied Method, skill, or Routine has the same name as something in your workspace, Hamster renames the copy and says so in the confirmation.
Stays current: The library is maintained by Hamster. When content improves, the library version updates — your enabled library Methods reflect the latest version. Copies are yours and do not receive library updates.
